My reflection is a particular reflection I do not like. The dark side, the ugly side we turn away from and deny exists. We all have that side of ourselves that we wish was different. Whether it be a part of our bodies, the way we laugh, or a mannerism we can't seem to change. Or maybe it's our loneliness that creeps up and takes over our faces no matter how many self-care practices we put in place. This painting was my reminder to face the darkness and shed light on it, no matter how unpretty it may seem. No m, matter how uncomfortable it is. So I painted the stranger I sometimes see in the mirror. We all feel like imposters sometimes.
